Derceto and Mouchel Group secure detailed design project with Northumbrian Water (UK)

Northumbrian Water is together with Essex & Suffolk Water a part of Northumbrian Water Group (NWG). Northumbrian Water serves a population of 2.6 million people in the north east of England with water and sewerage services. Essex and Suffolk Water supply water to 1.7 million people in the Essex, south Norfolk and north Suffolk area with 95% of water taken from the regions rivers and reservoirs. Two separate feasibility studies were carried out in 2007, one for Northumbrian in the Tyneside area and one in Essex. Following these successful Phase 1 studies Derceto UK Ltd in partnership with Mouchel Group have secured Detailed Design (Phase 2) projects to look at the whole of the Northumbrian system and all of Essex & Suffolk.
This challenging project will use integrated hydraulic models to accurately predict potential savings from the wide range of areas targeted by the Aquadapt solution including; use of lowest tariff energy; use of cheapest source of water; options for alternative paths from source to destination; and some analysis of potential efficiency gains and greenhouse gas reductions. The project started in July 2008 and is anticipated that the report will be issued in December.
