March 02, 2007 Waterloo in Canada sign up to Phase 1 study

Waterloo, Ontario
Derceto Inc. is also excited to announce the start of the feasibility study for our second client in Canada. Water Services in Waterloo Ontario, is responsible for planning, operating and testing the water supply and wastewater facilities in the Waterloo Region. The Region's municipal water supply comes from two sources: groundwater and surface water. Groundwater is pumped from 126 wells that are located throughout the Region. Surface water from the Grand River is pumped to the Mannheim Water Treatment Plant where it is purified, disinfected and blended with groundwater before sending it to the area municipalities, for their distribution to residents of the Region.

Quick Facts

Pump payback

In a 2005 study done for a major US city by the Washington D.C. based Alliance to Save Energy they determined that almost every large pump in a distribution system should be changed to a more efficient unit. All would achieve better than a 4 year pay-back and more than half would achieve a 1 to 2 year payback. Disappointedly none have been changed to date.
