About Derceto

Named after the Assyrian goddess of water, Derceto develops, supports and sells the Aquadapt® suite of water utility optimization software to water utility companies worldwide.

Derceto’s Aquadapt gives water utilities the power to slash energy costs, lower carbon emissions and boost quality and resource efficiency. Aquadapt reduces energy bills by 10 to 20 percent, which can amount to savings of millions of dollars per year for many utilities.

Aquadapt is a unique, real-time ‘customized off-the-shelf’ software solution purpose-designed to optimize water production and distribution. Integrating with existing SCADA systems, Aquadapt reads live field data to instantly create the most effective pump valve and water treatment plan schedules, adapting them in real time to changes in demand, energy pricing and unforeseen events in the network – ensuring water is delivered where it is needed at minimum cost and maximum quality. The user-friendly interface makes it easy for operators to step in at any time to take control, schedule maintenance or brush up on operational skills.

Derceto’s Aquadapt is now implemented in 16 systems for 13 water utilities in the United States, UK, Canada, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, delivering energy savings of 10-20 percent, totaling more than US$8M annually. Aquadapt creates greenhouse gas reductions of 6% to 8%, or an annual total of 20,000 tonnes of CO2, as well as significant gains in water use efficiency and quality. More than 16 million people now receive water delivered by systems optimized by Aquadapt, with over 2100 assets such as pumps and valves under Aquadapt automated control.

Aquadapt delivers on the key tenet of sustainability: it saves more than it costs, in money, in time, and in resources.

Derceto is a private company registered in New Zealand in 2004 as a spin off from New Zealand’s largest employee-owned engineering firm, Beca.  In 2014 Suez Environment finalized the acquistion of Derceto through its subsidiary Ondeo Systems. After graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) Simon spent the next 21 years in control systems design, rising to become a partner in The Beca Group in 1999. In 2000 Simon used his experience of control systems and water treatment processes to design the complex software at the heart of the Aquadapt product, the world’s first commercially available real-time pump scheduling optimizer.
