Introducing Derceto Pump Scheduling Software

Water Down the Drain

The only "customized off-the-shelf" (COTS) software tool which works online and in real-time to reduce the costs of treated water distribution, Derceto optimizes pump and valve schedules to minimize distribution costs guided primarily by electricity tariffs. Direct connection to the SCADA system provides live data, which is then used by Derceto to choose the lowest cost solution for water production and distribution which it then automatically outputs directly to pumps and valves.

Derceto calculates the minimum cost solution from the multitude of possible pump schedule combinations to meet the day's evolving demand while maintaining defined constraints such as water turnover and storage requirements. Running in real-time, Derceto excels in recognizing and reacting to sudden and evolving changes in demand (e.g.: fire fighting draw-off) quickly and accurately and can handle noisy or poor quality data, providing maximum reliability. Choosing the optimal solution without sacrificing reliability or safety, pumping is moved to the lowest cost (kWh) tariff periods, using the elevated storage tanks to satisfy demand. Derceto also minimizes peak tariff charges (kW) maintaining system pressure with the lowest cost sub-set of pumps. Schedules are created for the next 48 hours for each pump and treatment plant, and then re-optimized every half an hour as Derceto adapts to changing conditions. Derceto also automates the entire water distribution process, providing consistent and reliable operation 24 hours a day.

Recent successes include : Northumbrian Water, Essex & Suffolk, Wessex water, Severn Trent, United Utilities and South West Water in the UK, Southern Regional Water PIpeline in Brisbane and Wellington in New Zealand.

DERCETO® AQUADAPT™ 5.5 Released 1 April 2008

Dashboard Demand Screen

Version 5.5 now available

DERCETO® AQUADAPT™  5.5 builds on the award winning Aquadapt 4.5 and 5.0 platform with many of the new features requested by our clients.

Amongst the many new features are:

    • Derceto Dashboard – an Intranet enabled bird’s eye view on the performance and savings being generated by Aquadapt with drill-down to incredible levels of detail on items such as individual pump performance
    • Diagnostic Advisor - A user friendly guide to help operators direct their attention to the issues that may be impacting on the ability to generate high quality schedules.
    • Operations Simulator – building on the on-line simulator of previous versions the new Tactical and Strategic simulators provide operators, engineers and planners the tools to carry out detailed “what-if” analysis with latest data and complete safety.
    • Multi-site support - Now even the largest or most complex systems can be handled by Aquadapt, with support for multi-core CPUs for increased solve speed on large problems through to multiple computers working together for widely distributed but loosely coupled systems.
    • Physical to Logical modelling tools – work with actual pump curves, valve and storage tank details in the new graphical database view, confident that Aquadapt will convert these ‘on-the-fly’ into the real time data used by the solver.
    • Improved Variable Speed Drive modelling – new techniques for modelling complex variable speed drives extract even better savings through explicit performance targeting
    • Improved Operator Interface – feedback from our users has lead to subtle changes to the operator view screens to improve readability and streamlined the layout.
    • Improved demand forecasting - using Loess Filtering which handles even the fastest changing demand patterns with ease.  Myriad tuning parameters makes this technique configurable to a wide range of client requirements on a zone-by-zone basis.
    • Pressure Meters - these instruments in the distribution system are now explicitly handled with new objects in the database. These can be used for pressure control or pump curve recording.
